Interview with Application Insights Succinctly Author

The following is a short interview with Succinctly series author Roberto Albano, whose book Application Insights Succinctly was published on Thursday, February 22. You can download the book here.

What should people know about Application Insights? Why is it important?

Application Insights is a sort of Swiss Army knife for web business. It helps you learn more about the users’ experiences, and it’s very helpful to invest in it the right way and so easy for developers to resolve bugs.

When did you first become interested in Application Insights?

The first time I approached Application Insights was in a situation in which I was interested to have more control for a web portal. It was a great discovery for my job.

By writing Application Insights Succinctly, did you learn anything new yourself?

Sure, writing this book helped me learn more about some features of Application Insights that I didn’t use often. I understood there are a lot of aspects to consider when using Application Insights.

How will Application Insights and telemetry services change over the next few years?

It is continuously evolving, and the change that will happen will allow this product to integrate better with the other features on Azure.

Do you see Application Insights as part of a larger trend in software development?

Web software development needs this kind of product every day, so it is surely a need more than a trend.

What other books or resources on Application Insights do you recommend?

The main documentation on Azure is very helpful to understand this telemetry product: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/application-insights/.
