Welcoming Satya Nadella

On February 4, Satya Nadella was named the new chief executive officer at Microsoft after a nearly six month search. He immediately went to work.

Nadella has been a familiar face at Microsoft conferences and industry events for years now. Before rising to the position of CEO, he served as the executive vice president of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group, the president of its Server and Tools Division, and in several other leadership roles that spanned both software and hardware development. He has been a vital part of Microsoft’s transition to cloud-based services, rivaling those of Amazon and Google.

The various roles Nadella has held at Microsoft illustrate his complete understanding of the value in powerful developer tools. In his first email to Microsoft employees as CEO, Nadella said, “We are the only ones who can harness the power of software and deliver it through devices and services that truly empower every individual and every organization. We are the only company with history and continued focus in building platforms and ecosystems that create broad opportunity.” At Syncfusion, we share this spirit of empowering individuals and organizations. We do it by providing tools and services that enable enterprises to deliver innovation that drives business forward. Nadella’s remarks both confirm Microsoft’s significance to the industry and reaffirm Syncfusion’s decade-long commitment to these shared ideals.

With Build 2014 less than a month away, we are anticipating Nadella’s keynote speech and the path he sets forth for Microsoft in the coming year. Besides indulging in some of the speculation leading up to Build around the office—is Cortana really the Windows Phone counterpart to iOS’ Siri? Is Windows 9 really coming in 2015?—there are a few topics we’re particularly interested in at Syncfusion. On the hardware side of Windows Phone, we’re hoping to hear more about what Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia’s mobile devices business means for the platform. On the software side, we’re looking forward to new features the Windows Phone 8.1 update will bring to the platform. (Don’t worry, if you still need to get up to speed on Windows Phone 8, check out our e-book Windows Phone 8 Development Succinctly.) And as big fans of HDInsight (you can read our white paper on it here), we’re interested in any new developments that may be in the pipeline for the service.

Until Nadella takes the stage in San Francisco, let us know your thoughts on the new CEO and what you’re looking forward to at Build 2014. Leave a comment here, or tweet us @Syncfusion.
